Community Involvement

For his work on behalf of the Badger Association of the Blind and Visually Impaired, Inc., Financial Representative Jim Dobrinska, CLU, ChFC has been recognized and honored with a $10,000 grant from the Northwestern Mutual Foundation. Jim has a personal connection with the Badger Association, having undergone multiple surgeries to both eyes for cataracts and detached retinas. In addition, his grandmother suffered from macular degeneration, so he experienced firsthand the obstacles and challenges that individuals suffering from vision loss face on a daily basis. Jim felt that the Badger Association was a perfect fit for him to give his “time, treasure, and talent” to; as a result, he has been working with the organization for four years, and is the first person with vision to be appointed to the Board of Directors.

After his most recent surgery, Jim’s vision has been restored to 20/20 eyesight with glasses; he feels very fortunate to have his sight restored and is honored to work with an organization that creates opportunities for people with vision loss.

Born of the inspiration and leadership of individuals who were themselves blind, the Badger Association has been committed to helping people achieve economic, social and personal independence since 1919. The Badger Association is an organization run by and for people who are blind or visually impaired, and consistently designs new strategies to assist people in achieving their highest level of self-sufficiency.
